Dig a deep, wide hole and plant the crowns approximately 1"-2" deep allowing 4' between each plant in compost and topsoil. Harvest the stalks the 2nd year of growth. The leaves are poisonous if ingested. Simply chop the leaves and throw away. In the winter, the plant will die down to the ground.
